How is an audiobook delivered to my listener?

How is an audiobook delivered to my listener?

Recording an audiobook is a significant achievement and a route to a wider audience. Understanding how it reaches listeners helps you plan the promotion around it.

    The pre-order stage

Audible offers pre-orders for many audiobooks. A customer buys before release and the title lands in their Audible account automatically on launch day.

Not every title is eligible. Availability depends on the publisher or rights holder among other factors.

    Once published

On purchase, the audiobook is delivered to the buyer's Audible account and accessible across smartphones, tablets and computers.

The listener finds it in the Library section of the app, taps the cover, and the app streams the audio. Variable playback speed, sleep timer and bookmarking are all built in.

What this means for your promotion

Because delivery is instant and account-based, your promotion should point to a single clear action rather than explaining logistics. Treat the audiobook as another format of the same body of work, with its own audience habits.
